Saturn’s executive team brings a long history of value creation in the oil and gas production space.

John Jeffrey - BA, MBA

Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Jeffrey assumed leadership of Saturn in 2016 and previously was the area finance manager for a Fortune 500 engineering consulting firm in Canada. He has a strong background in operations and finance that has allowed him to successfully execute large engineering and environmental projects. Mr. Jeffrey was also a founder and CFO for Axiom Group, a geological and engineering consulting company that has drilled over 800 wells within western Canada. He is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan with an MBA majoring in Finance.

Scott Sanborn - CPA, CA

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Sanborn brings 15 years of oil and gas focused finance, capital markets and accounting experience. He most recently served as Corporate Controller of Calgary-based Jupiter Resources from November 2016 until its sale to Tourmaline Oil in December 2020. Prior thereto, Mr. Sanborn held various leadership roles with energy companies including Marquee Energy and Verano Energy, and earlier, worked with KPMG LLP. Mr. Sanborn holds his Chartered Professional Accountant Designation and earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting from the University of Calgary.

Justin Kaufmann - P.Geo

Chief Development Officer

Mr. Kaufmann currently is Saturn's Chief Development Officer and has had roles of increasing responsibility in management and geology for both private and public companies. He was a founder of Axiom Energy Services, a division of Axiom Group and brings a strong technical background and management experience to his role. Mr. Kaufmann is a graduate from the University of Saskatchewan and a registered Professional Geologists with APEGS.

Grant MacKenzie - BA, LLB

Chief Legal Officer

Mr. MacKenzie joined Saturn from Dentons Canada LLP, where he was closely involved with the Company during its transformational growth that started in 2021. Mr. MacKenzie was a partner and Corporate co-lead of Dentons’ Calgary office since 2018, and brings the experience of a legal career spanning over two decades. He has extensive experience advising private and public companies in capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, start-ups, public offerings and stock exchange compliance. He has advised numerous boards and management teams on matters concerning shareholder activism, corporate governance and TSX and TSX Venture Exchange listing matters. Mr. MacKenzie was Corporate Secretary for Saturn from February until September 2022 and has been a member of the Board of Directors since September 2022.

Jamie Kuntz

Senior Vice President, Operations

Mr. Kuntz joined us from the acquisition of Ridgeback Resources, with over 20 years of industry experience in oil and gas production, facilities & pipelines, and asset management. His in-depth knowledge of oilfield operations and strong leadership skills drive solid results in production optimization and cost reduction. Mr. Kuntz has worked at O’Rourke Engineering, Peyto Exploration and Development Corp, CanEra Energy Corp, Petrus Resources and Ridgeback Resources Inc. Mr. Kuntz attended Southern Alberta Institute of Technology with a vocation in Energy & Natural Resources and Chemical Process Operations.

Joel Robertson - CPA, BBA

Controller

Mr. Robertson brings over a decade of oil and gas focused accounting experience. He joined Saturn in 2021, previously serving as the Manager, Financial Reporting. Prior thereto, he held positions of increasing responsibility at PFB Corporation and Jupiter Resources, and earlier serviced oil and gas clients at KPMG LLP including international work with the firm in Belgium. Mr. Robertson holds his Chartered Professional Accountant designation and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Trinity Western University.

Tyler Cheetham

Vice President, Land

Since 2001 Mr. Cheetham has engaged in Project Management and Landman positions working for oil & gas companies such as Husky Energy and Crescent Point.

With more than a 20-year career with A&D experience, negotiating and Oil & Gas land strategy, Mr. Cheetham leads Saturn’s efforts to facilitate successful land opportunities and advancements.

Mr. Cheetham is a graduate from The University of Lethbridge and a member of the Canadian Association of Land and Energy Professionals (CALEP).

Cindy Gray - MBA

Vice President, Investor Relations

Ms. Gray is an accomplished investor relations and capital markets professional with over 20 years of experience in financial communications. She most recently served as the Managing Director, CEO and Founder of a Calgary-based investor relations consulting firm specializing in the energy sector. Prior thereto, Ms. Gray held senior and executive roles at a number of public companies, led global business development for one of the TSX & TSX Venture Exchange practice groups, and served on the board of Think Research (TSXV: THNK). Ms. Gray holds an MBA from the University of Calgary's Haskayne School of Business and is a member of the Local Advisory Committee for the TSX Venture Exchange in Calgary.

Andrew Claugus, PE

Director

Mr. Claugus is an entrepreneur and independent businessman, with extensive experience in petroleum engineering. From 2014 to 2022, Mr. Claugus was the Engineering Manager for MECO IV, LLC, which, prior to its acquisition, was a private oil and gas exploration and production company based in Denver, Colorado. Following the sale, Mr. Claugus founded Cerrito Energy, a privately backed oil and gas company investing in non-operated interests in core areas of established basins. Mr. Claugus holds a Master of Engineering in Petroleum Engineering from Colorado School of Mines, and a BSc in Chemical Engineering, from Case Western Reserve University.

Jim Payne

Director

Mr. Payne is currently Director, President and Chief Executive Officer of dynaCERT Inc., a Canadian company that specializes in delivering carbon emission reduction technologies to the global marketplace. He brings more than 40 years of experience in strategic leadership roles within both public and private companies, corporate governance, finance and accounting, capital markets, executive leadership and business performance improvements. Mr. Payne also serves as Chief Executive Officer of a privately-held consulting, project management and real estate development company operating in the Greater Toronto Area. Mr. Payne graduated from St. Clair College in Construction Engineering, Project Management and Estimating.

Ivan Bergerman, J.D.

Director

Mr. Bergerman started his career in 2002 practicing primarily general corporate commercial, securities, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and oil and gas law with a major Calgary law firm. In 2006, he relocated back to his hometown of Saskatoon and continued practicing business law with a major Saskatoon law firm. In 2010, Mr. Bergerman made the decision to strike out on his own and founded what is now Bergerman Smith LLP with principal practice areas including public company advising (having worked with companies listed on the TSXV, TSX, CSE, NASDAQ, NYSE and NYSE MKT LLC), initial public offerings, exempt market distributions, corporate governance, M&A, corporate structuring and restructuring, financing, natural resources, intellectual property, general corporate and commercial. He is a graduate from the University of Saskatchewan, College of Law.

Christopher Ryan

Director

Mr. Ryan is the Chief Executive Officer of Broadbill Energy Inc, an oil and gas technology infrastructure company. Prior there to, he was the Director of Midstream and Director of Operation Services for Kingston Midstream (formally Tundra Energy Marketing Ltd) and an exploitation engineer with Tundra Oil and Gas. He has published 25 scientific publications, many of which were published during his time as a Research Scientist at the Canadian Light Source Inc. Mr. Ryan currently sits on the Board for the Canadian Crude Quality Technical Association (CCQTA) as the Director of Midstream, and he is the Co-Chair of the Sampling and Frequency Working Group for the Crude Oil Quality Association (COQA). Mr. Ryan is also an honorary founding member of the Global Institute of Water Security and is on various Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) Committees, specifically the CAPP Equalization Steering Committee and is a voted Working Group member of the Canadian Transportation of Dangerous Goods General Policy Advisory Council for Classification.

Dr. Thomas Gutschlag

Director

Dr. Gutschlag is currently the Chairman of Deutsche Rohstoff AG (DRAG), a public company listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange which identifies, and develops resource projects globally, with a focus on oil and gas development in the United States. Dr. Gutschlag cofounded DRAG in 2006 and was its Chief Financial Officer from 2007 to 2015 and was its Chief Executive Officer from 2015 to 2022. Dr. Gutschlag is a qualified economist with a degree in economics from the University of Heidelberg and a doctorate from the University of Mannheim.

Lynn A. Peterson, BSc

Director

Mr. Peterson brings over 40 years of energy industry experience and extensive senior leadership, governance, and operational expertise to his role on the Board. Most recently he served as Executive Chair of the Board of Chord Energy. Prior thereto, Mr. Peterson served as President and Chief Executive Officer for Whiting Petroleum Corporation. He co-founded Kodiak Oil & Gas Corporation in 2002 and held positions as President and CEO, Director, and Chair of the Board from 2002 until its acquisition by Whiting Petroleum Corporation in 2014. Mr. Peterson was Chair of the Board, Chief Executive Officer, and President of SRC Energy from 2015 until its acquisition by PDC Energy in 2020. Mr. Peterson holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Northern Colorado.

S. Janet Yang, MBA, BA

Director

Ms. Yang currently serves as Chief Financial Officer for Reveam, Inc., a developer and operator of electronic cold-pasteurization treatment systems. Prior to joining Reveam, Ms. Yang held the role of Research Director, Energy and Mining at GMT Capital Corp., and from 2018 to 2023, she was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of W&T Offshore, Inc., a Texas-based oil and gas exploration and production company traded on the New York Stock Exchange. Ms. Yang has over twenty years of varied experience in financial management, business leadership, corporate strategy, capital markets and M&A, and holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Rice University.
